Etching: Lost In The 80's
This is a photoetching that was greatly manipulated to look like it didn't start as a photograph. Just about everything I could think of was put into it. There's deep etch, there's tape across the photo, burnishing of the light areas, etc. The original image was of a window at the old Monkey's Retreat (SohoZat) where they were selling wild 80's clothes with a mannequin with a mask.
The detail shows a lot of variety of treatments. The frozen look of the mannequin made me think of how the 1980's was a frozen decade for young people. Jobs were few and low pay, rent was going up, but people would just wear wilder and wilder clothes
